Peritoneal mesothelioma's symptoms

Peritoneal mesothelioma's symptoms (mesothelioma of the abdominal lining, which is known as the peritoneum) may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Fever
Anemia -
A reduction in the number of red blood cells to below normal, forcing the heart and other organs work harder to get oxygen where it's needed.
Weight loss - But waist may increase in size.
Pain/swelling in the abdomen - The fluid retention or growth of tumors.
Bowel obstruction -
Blocking in the small or large intestine.

These symptoms may accompany many other, less serious medical conditions, and if you experience any of these symptoms, and have been exposed to asbestos, you should see a doctor immediately. Exposure to asbestos can be 20, 30, even 50 years before symptoms appear, but it is a major risk factor, the exposure is reported between 70-80% of all cases of mesothelioma.

Dyspnea (shortness of breath) -
enrouement, swallowing difficult, and / or coughing blood.

Currently, there is no cure for mesothelioma, unless it can be removed by an operation. Treatment for mesothelioma depends if it is only in one place or spread. Unfortunately, when mesothelioma is diagnosed, it has usually already spread beyond the point where he could be removed by an operation.

The most common treatment for mesothelioma are:

Active symptom control

This means that if you have symptoms, they are treated with drugs such as steroids, drugs to improve the appetite, painkillers, drugs that reduce or breathlessness. Radiation therapy can be used to reduce the symptoms if needed. Chemotherapy may also be used to reduce mesothelioma and control symptoms. Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy can control the growth of mesothelioma for a time, the reduction of symptoms and a better quality of life. A test research has shown that chemotherapy can help some people with mesothelioma to live for a few more months, but it can not usually cure mesothelioma and its usually aimed at controlling symptoms.

If an early diagnosis, surgery may be an option that can provide a cure mesothelioma. The radiation and chemotherapy after surgery can help in the production of mesothelioma cure. Pleural Mesothelioma -

Asbestos is a type of building material used in thermal insulation products and ceiling tiles. The use of asbestos peaked in the years 1950 - 1970, but during the late 1960's, concerns about the health consequences of asbestos exposure began to arise, thereby reducing the amount of 'asbestos manufactured in the past two decades. But even if new measures in the cases brought to get rid of him, many schools and public buildings still contain asbestos.
